About Slice Of Life History

My name is Parker, and as a 15-year-old, my knowledge of history is mostly confined to what I read in textbooks or online. As my passion for history grows, I become increasingly interested in learning about it directly from the people who experienced it.
While discussing the Kennedy Assassination with my grandfather one day, I realized he is an ideal primary source for some major events in American history. And then I had the painful realization that my great-grandmother, who had recently passed away at the age of 103, would have been a goldmine of information. Although it was too late to document her experiences, I could still seek out others who could shed light on so many historical events.
I decided to interview people who had stories to tell about significant events in history. I started to film my conversations so that their voices would live on for future generations. Now, I’m on a mission to collect as many of these gems as possible. I created a series called “Slice of Life History” as a way of organizing and sharing these primary sources with future generations. This website provides a glimpse into historical time periods from the perspectives of people who lived through them.
I’m Parker Maier, and I’m listening.
Parker Maier lives in South Florida with his parents and brother. A sophmore in high school, he enjoys learning about history, watching soccer, and all things Star Wars.
